"Be a cupcake in a world full of muffins."
A little secret: Houston’s favorite type of cake is cupcake! With his birthday in October, fall becomes the season of cupcakes. One year, he received a GIANT cupcake-cake at the studio for his birthday, but most years he gets boxes of different delicious flavors. Such a dedication to cake in miniature expresses his artistic zeal: that in a world where muffins abound, the artist steps up and says, “How about cupcakes instead?”
Houston Llew is an enameling artist of his own distinctive genre specializing in glass on copper artworks known as Spiritiles. In his kiln-hot Atlanta studio, each tile is made by hand using ground glass that is painted, then kiln-fired to copper and enveloped around a solid frame. Every Spiritile has its own story wrapped around the sides to match the iconic and inspiring moments drawn from life. These pieces are best enjoyed together in a collection that reflects your unique style and story. They are made to be gifted, collected, and treasured for years to come. Welcome to the family!
